| Abstract/Description: | Goat flocks are mostly kept by marginal farmers who are unable to afford supplementary feeding with costly concentrate mixture. Simultaneously, the grazing/browsing areas are progressively shrinking with the encroachment by ever growing humag populatIon necessItating to evolve cheaper feed mixtures for higher and sustained animal production (Mathur 1996). In this experiment efforts are made to reduce the cost of sUpple111cntary feeding of goats by the introduction of a non-conventional tumba (Citrullus colocynthis) seed-cake (TSC) a low cost (Rs 2/kg) feed supplement. The objective of the study is to enhance goat production with low cost feeding inputs, affordable by marginal and landless farmers. |
