Minimal Descriptors in Forage Crops

Abstract

The present attempt 'Minimal Descriptors- Forage Crops', which encompasses a set of descriptor for large number of species at one place is an initiative to provide a framework to forage PGR scientists, geneticists and breeders to evaluate the available forage germplasm in a common format so that data recorded at different places is comparable. Hopefully, this will help to streamline the consented efforts for germplasm evaluation and their utilization in the breeding programmes of crops with forage value, which can the used by the researchers worldwide. The objective of this publication is to provide a standardized uniform set of minimal descriptors in different forage crops to the researchers for a rapid and precise evaluation of germplasm. Efforts have been made to compile information available from different sources and based on our experience and knowledge.
