Abstract/Description: | Knowledge of evapotranspiration (ET) and crop coefficient is useful for irrigation water management to crops. Determination of crop water requirement requires measurement of crop ET (ETc), which is a critical component of water balance at any scale. In this study, readily available pan evaporation data were used to estimate the ET0 for hot and humid region of West Bengal considering the factor of pan coefficient (Kp) depending on fetch, wind speed, and relative humidity. The estimation of ETc for tossa jute crop was carried out by using soil moisture depletion method. The ratio of ETc to ET0, called the crop coefficient (Kc), was calculated on weekly basis for irrigation scheduling of jute in a hot and humid region of West Bengal. |
