| Abstract/Description: | Seven somaclones along with the parent cullivar P-24 of Lathyrus sativus were analysed for N oxalyl, L-a, diaminopropionic acid (OOAP) content, protein content and electrophoresis patterns for proteins and isozymes to observe the variation. OOAP content was found lowest in the somaclone Bio 15-8 in all the plant parts and In seeds. It was found highest In leaves followed by shoot and root. Proteincontent decreased from 30 OAF to 40 OAF.Esterase and alcohol dehydrogenase (AOH) lsozyme patterns showed quantitative and qualitative changes among the somaclones and between some of the somaclones and the parent cultivar P-24. Similar difference was observed in two polypeptides (56k0 and 17k0) in the SOS-PAGE patterns. |
