Abstract/Description: | Our country is recognized as a treasure house of indigenous knowledge. This vast bank of indigenous knowledge has been transmitted through oral communication among the masses and has passed from generation to generation. In present study an attempt has been made to study the clothing disinfection/sanitization practices among rural and urban women and medication with herbal sources followed during chronic/ contagious illness among rural and urban women. The study was carried out in three villages and in Udaipur. Total sixty respondents were interviewed to fulfill the objective. The study result reveals that urban women used synthetic disinfectants while rural women dried the clothes in strong sunlight only. Regarding traditional plant sources used to cure the infectious disease it was revealed that mainly neem leaves, tulsi leaves, turmeric powder, ginger, garlic were used. |
