| Abstract/Description: | In India, forewarning systems have been developed in crops like groundnut, cotton, rice and others. The Decision Support System developed for late leaf spot of groundnut can be used as a stand alone forewarning system for different groundnut growing regions of India. Evaluation of limited research in plant protection and weather has shown positive or negative impacts or no impact. Hence, more critical data base on biotic stresses and their relation to abiotic factors is required for developing and fine tuning of pest prediction systems. In this paper, the development of weather-based forewarning systems for groundnut pest populations and identifying the critical gaps in our knowledge for their effective management is discussed. |
