Physical hazards in seafood

Abstract

Physical hazards are any potentially harmful extraneous matter not normally found in food. When a consumer mistakenly eats the foreign material or object, it is likely to cause choking, injury or other adverse health effects. They can find their way to food system through unintentional introduction or naturally occurring objects that are threat to the consumer. Physical hazards can enter into food product at any stage of production.
