| Abstract/Description: | The ability to trace and follow a food, feed, food-producing animal or substance intended to be, or expected to be incorporated into a food or feed, through all stages of production, processing and distribution. Traceability is meant to ensure that (i) a food or feed business including an importer can identify at least the business from which the food has been supplied (ii)targeted and accurate withdrawals or recalls can be undertaken (iii)appropriate information can be given to consumers and food business operators concerning implicated products (iv) risk assessment can be performed by control authorities (v) unnecessary wider disruption of trade can be avoided. |
