Abstract/Description: | Rubber is an important crop mainly in Tripura of the north eastern region of India. the climate, landform and soils are suitable for rubber plantation. The present paper discusses the rubber growing soils of Bishalgarh block in Sepahijala district of Tripura for their characteristics, suitability and management. the IRS-R2 LISS IV satellite data was used to delineate the land use land cover and landform units in the study area. Morphological properties and soil physical and chemical properties were done using standard methods. It is observed that the rubber growing soils exhibited low pH and high soil organic carbon. The soil and site data were used to develop the suitability of rubber in Bishalgarh block of Sepahijala district. The management of rubber plantations to obtained higher yield are also discussed. |
