Women empowerment and gender issues

Abstract

Women Empowerment has assumed special significance in the twenty first century. Women in India nearly 500 million constitutes 50 percent to total population. They play an important role family, agriculture and various other sectors. Swami Vivekananda, one of the noblest son of India quoted that, "There is no chance for the welfare of the world unless the condition of women is improved.It is not possible for a bird to fly on only one wing. Empowerment is a multidimensional social process that helps to people gain freedom and control over their lives. It is process of increasing the capacity of individual person and groups. Women empowerment creates such an environment for women where every women can make decisions of their own for their personal benefits as well as for the social benefits. In India, Women are suffering types of problems in every sector. A cursory reviews on rural women revealed that women empowerment is necessary for all over development of women.
