| Abstract/Description: | THE VARIATION OF SOIL MOISTURE IN DIFFERENT SOIL DEPTH ZONES FOLLOWS AN EXPONENTIAL DECAY FUNCTION STARTING FROM A HIGHER VALUE IN THE BEGINNING TO A STEADY VALUE WITH THE PROGRESS OF TIME UNLESS OTHERWISE AFFECTED BY RAINFALL OR IRRIGATION INPUT. THIS FUNCTION WAS MATHEMATICALLY DESCRIBED BY A HORTON'S TYPE EXPRESSION WAS TESTED WITH THE SOIL MOISTURE DATA COLLECTED DURING THE WHEAT GROWING SEASON FROM IRRIGATED NORMAL AND RECLAIMED ALKALI SOILS OF KARNAL REGION. |
