| Abstract/Description: | SOIL SAMPLES BELONGING TO FOUR SOIL SERIES OF BAINKHALA WATERSHED WERE COLLECTED FROM REPRESENTATIVE SPOTS AND ANALYSED FOR PHYSCIO - CHEMICAL PROPERTIES TO COMPUTE ERODIBILITY INDICES. WIDE VARIATIONS IN SOIL ERODIBILITY WERE OBSERVED BETWEEN SOIL SERIES ANS OIL PROFILES OF THE SAME SERIES. ERODIBILITY OF SURFACE SOILS WAS HIGHER THAN THE SUB- SOIL. SUSPENSION RATIO (SR) HAS BEEN PROPOSED AS A NEW INDEX OF SOIL ERODIBILITY WHICH CAN BE CALCULATED BY DIVIDING DISPERSION RATIO WITH CLAY/ MAXIMUM WATER HOLDING CAPACITY. |
