Abstract/Description: | DENSITY METHOD FOR DETERMINATION SEDIMENT IN RUNOFF WAS FOUND TO BE SUPERIOR OVER GRAVIMETRIC AND OTHER METHODS. THE AMOUNT OF SEDIMENT OBTAINED BY THIS METHOD WAS VERY CLOSE TO STANDARDS OBTAINED BY SEDIMENT SUSPENSION THAN FROM GRAVIMETRIC METHOD. THE 't' VALUES FOR TWO DIFFERENT SOILS WERE 1.89 AND 1.63 FOR PROPOSED METHOD AND 3.67 AND 2.81 FOR GRAVIMETRIC METHOD, RESPECTIVELY. MATHEMATICAL EQUATIONS AND GRAPHICAL REPRESENTATION WERE DEVELOPED TO FIND OUT SEDIMENT CONTENT BY KNOWING ONLY THE WEIGHT OF SUSPENSION OF A KNOWN VOLUME. |
