| Abstract/Description: | RESEARCH STUDIES ON BIDI- TOBACCO IN GUJARAT SHOWED THAT APPLICATION OF NITROGEN HAS NO EFFECT ON THE PRODUCTION OF RUNOFF , SOIL LOSS AND NITROGEN LOSSES. THE STUDY ALSO REVEALS THAT BY FOLLOWING RIDGE PLANTING OF TOBACCO AS AGAINST FLAT PLANTING ( NORMAL PRACTICE) AFTER GREEN MANURING, THE RUNOFF , SOIL LOSS AND NITROGEN LOSSES COULD BE REDUCED BY 43, 7, 45, 6 AND 45.3%. |
