| Abstract/Description: | A FIELD EXPERIMENT WAS CONDUCTED AT DEHRADUN ON DEEP ALLUVIAL SILT LOAM SOILS TO FIND THE EFFECT OF TOPSOIL REMOVAL ON THE PERFORMANCE AND YIELD OF RAINFED MAIZE. RESULTS SHOWED OF TOPSOIL PROGRESSIVE REDUCTION IN THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF MAIZE WITH INCREASING DEPTHS OF TOPSOIL REMOVAL. ON AN AVERAGE WITH EVERY CENTIMETER OF TOPSOIL REMOVAL THERE WAS 76 kg/ha REDUCTION IN GRAIN YIELD. |
