| Abstract/Description: | THE PAPER DISCUSSES THE RESULTS OF AGROFORESTRY STUDIES CONDUCTED ON THE RAINFED , SEMI- ARID BLACK SOILS OF BELLARY ( KARNATAKA) . STUDIES SHOWED BIOMASS YIELD OF 22,129 KG-1 YR-1 OF LEUCAENA AT 0.75 M PLANTING AND 16,345 TO 25,238 kgHA-1YR-1 IN 4.50 M ALLEYS OVER 5 YEARS. ACACIA NILOTICA GAVE A MAXIMUM BIOMASS OF 2.78 T HA-1 YR-1 COMPARED TO 1.06 AND 0.68 t ha-1 yr-1 FROM AZADIRACHTA INDICA AND EUCALYPTUS HYBRID , RESPECTIVELY. COMPARATIVE GRAIN YIELD OF SORGHUM AND BENGALGRAM AS INTERCROPS IN DIFFERENT TREE COMBINATIONS , ALONG WITH THE ECONOMIES OF THE SYSTEMS HAVE ALSO BEEN PRESENTED. |
