Abstract/Description: | A FIELD EXPERIMENT WAS CONDUCTED AT DEHRADUN TO STUDY THE INFLUENCE OF MULCH ON MOISTURE CONSERVATION IN ORDER TO REDUCE THE IRRIGATION REQUIREMENT OF POTATO. THE PADDY STRAW MULCH WAS SPREAD @ 6 TONS/HA. THE APPLICATION OF MULCH INCREASED THE YIELD OF POTATO AT BOTH THE LEVELS OF IRRIGATION. MULCHING WITH IRRIGATION AT 60mm CPE PRODUCED SIMILAR YIELDS AS WITH 40 mm CPE VALUE, THUS SAVING ONE THIRD OF IRRIGATION WATER WITHOUT APPRECIABLE REDUCTION IN THE YIELD. |
