| Abstract/Description: | TRIALS WERE CONDUCTED DURING 1981-86 AT CSWCRTI, DEHRADUN IN YOUNG ORCHARDS OF PEACH ' FLORDASUN' WITH SHORT DURATION COMPANION CROPS ( COWPEA, SOYABEAN AND SESAME) AND LONG- DURATION COMPANION CROPS ( CYMBOPOGON , PINEAPPLE, AND TURMERIC) . THIS STUDY HAS REVEALED THAT SHORT - DURATION COMPANION CROPS LIKE COWPEA AND SESAME UPTO 4th YEAR AND LONG - DURATION COMPANION CROP TURMERIC EVEN BEYOND 6th YEAR OF PEACH ORCHARD CAN BE GROWN WITHOUT ANY ADVERSE EFFECT ON THE PRODUCTIVITY OF ORCHARDS. SUCH COMPATIBLE LANDUSE SYSTEMS CAN GIVE INCOME OF RS 10,000/ha. |
