Abstract/Description: | IN THIS PAPER, THE AUTHORS DISCUSS VARIOUS CONSERVATION - LINKED LANDUSE SYSTEMS DEVELOPED AT CSWCRTI , DEHRADUN FOR REHABILITATION OF BOULDERY RIVERBED LANDS ( CONTAINING 74% BOULDERS OF DIFFERENT DIMENSIONS) IN DOON VALLEY WHERE SUCH LANDS ARE SPREAD OVER 30% AREA. IN CLASS II RAINFED LANDS UNDER AGRI- HORTI SYSTEM , PEACH - TURMERIC COMBINATION, GIVING 3.85 t/ha TURMERIC AND 11.8 t/ha FRUIT YIELDS , HAS BEEN FOUND MOST SUCCESSFUL , PEACH TREES HAVE NO ADVERSE EFFECT ON TURMERIC UPTO 14th YEAR. FRUIT CROPS LIKE LEMON, SWEET ORANGE , KINNOW MANDARIN, PUMMELO AND PLUM HAVE BEEN FOUND PROMISING IN CLASS V BOULDERY LANDS. UNDER SILVIPASTORAL SYSTEMS, ALBIZIA LEBBEK - EULALIOPSIS BINATA HAS BEEN PROVED TO BE MOST COMPATIBLE. SUBABUL - HYBRID NAPIER COMBINATION PRODUCING 23.5 t/ha AND 26.5 t/ha GREEN FORAGE, RESPECTIVELY, FROM DEGRADED LAND HAS ALSO BEEN PROVED REMUNERATIVE . AGAVE INTERCROPPED WITH EULALIOPSIS BINATA PROVIDES HIGHER PHYTOMASS FOR FIBRE THAN THEIR MONOCULTURE PLANTATIONS. |
