| Abstract/Description: | A NUMBER OF MEDICINAL AND AROMATIC OIL YIELDING PLANT SPECIES WERE TRIED IN A DEGRADED WASTELAND ( RECLAIMED RIVERBED) OF DEHRADUN VALLEY DURING 1973- 75 . CROP PERFORMANCES IN THE FIRST AND SECOND YEAR OF PLANTING INDICATE THAT AROMATIC PLANTS LIKE C CITRATUS ( LEMON GRASS) AND O. KILIMANDSCHARICUM AND MEDICINAL PLANT LIKE R SERPENTINA CAN THRIVE THROUGH SUMMER DROUGHT TO A GREAT EXTENT UNDER RAINFED CONDITION, WHEREAS MENTHA ARVENSIS AND M PIPPERATA SHOWED HIGH MORTALITY. |
