| Abstract/Description: | THE PAPER GIVES AN ACCOUNT OF SEVERAL EXOTIC TREES INTRODUCED FROM THE EARLY 19th CENTURY AND NOW NATURALISED IN THE NILGIRIS ALONG WITH THE EXISTING SHOLA TREES. THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THESE TREES , THEIR HISTORY OF INTRODUCTION AND THEIR POTENTIALITIES FOR THE ECONOMIC AND INDUSTRIAL EXPLOITATION ARE HIGHLIGHTED. THE FUTURE SCOPE FOR RESEARCH ON SHOLA AS WELL AS EXOTICS IS DISCUSSED. |
