| Abstract/Description: | THE PAPER PRESENTS THE RESULTS OF INVESTIGATIONS CARRIED OUT ON INTERCEPTION , STEMFLOW AND THROUGHFALL IN NATURAL 'SHOLA' FOREST AND MAN- MADE PLANTATIONS OF ACACIA MEARNSII AND EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS IN THE NILGIRIS ( TAMIL NADU) , OF THE TOTAL RAINFALL (1105.3 mm ) , 33.8 , 25.1 AND 21.9% RESPECTIVELY WAS INTERCEPTED BY SHOLA., ACACIA MEARNSII AND EUCALYPTUS GLOBULUS . SIMILARLY THE PERCENTAGE OF STEMFLOW AND THROUGHFALL WERE 1.3 AND 65.0, 4.3 AND 70.6 AND 1.5 AND 76.7 IN SHOLA FORESTS. A MEARNSII AND E. GLOBULUS PLANTATIONS , RESPECTIVELY . THE VARIATIONS IN SEMI- FLOW THROUGHFALL AND INTERCEPTION AMONG THE FORESTS HAVE BEEN DISCUSSED IN DETAIL. |
