| Abstract/Description: | FOURTEEN VARIETIES OF PENNISETUM PEDICELLATUM TRIN WERE TESTED FOR CULTIVATION UNDER RAINFED CONDITIONS IN SILTY LOAM SOIL AT SELAKUI , DEHRADUN FROM 1977 TO 79 . THE DATA INDICATED THAT THE RAINFALL RECEIVED DURING THE GROWTH PERIOD OF THE CROP POSITIVELY INFLUENCED THE GROWTH AND FORAGE YIELDS IN ALL THE VARIETIES . TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION THE GREEN FORAGE , YIELD , DRY MATTER , LEAF- STEM RATIO , STEM THICKNESS, VARIETIES IGFRI -43-1, IGFRI-870 AND T -15 ARE RECOMMENDED FOR CULTIVATION IN THE DOON VALLEY UNDER RAINFED CONDITIONS. |
