| Abstract/Description: | THE STUDY REVEALED THAT MECHANICAL MEASURES ARE NECESSARY FOR CONTROL OF EROSION AS WELL AS FOR CONSERVATION OF WATER FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF NEW PLANTATION AND SUBSEQUENT MANAGEMENT. IT IS INDICATED THAT ALTHOUGH THERE EXISTS SUFFICIENT KNOWLEDGE ON MECHANICAL MEASURES, VERY LITTLE CARE IS TAKEN IN ASSESSING THE NEED OF INSTALLING A STRUCTURE , IN DESIGNING AND CONSTRUCTION THAT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING SUCH MEASURES. TO AMELIORATE THIS SITUATION , IT IS NECESSARY TO DEVELOP SPECIFIC GUIDELINES/MANUAL ON MECHANICAL MEASURES FOR DIFFERENT AGRO- CLIMATIC REGIONS OF THE COUNTRY. |
