| Abstract/Description: | THE BULLETIN DEALS WITH DIFFERENT TYPES OF LYSIMETERS DEVELOPED AND FABRICATED, AND THEIR INSTALLATION IN INDIA. IT DESCRIBES IN DETAIL THE TECHNICAL FABRICATION AND INSTALLATION OF A SIMPLE MECHANICAL WEIGHING TYPE LYSIMETER DEVELOPED BY CSWCRTI , DEHRADUN WHICH HAS BEEN INSTALLED AT DEHRADUN, KOTA AND HYDERABAD WHERE IT IS WORKING SATISFACTORILY FOR SEVERAL YEARS. THE LYSIMETER TANK (120m3) CONTAINS UNDISTURBED SOIL MONOLITH AND HAS THE PROVISIONS FOR MEASUREMENT OF RUNOFF AND SEEPAGE LOSSES AND IS SUPPORTED BY A WEIGHING BRIDGE OF 4 TONNES CAPACITY. HAVING SENSITIVITY OF 0.14m OF WATER , IT IS SUITABLE FOR MEASURING HOURLY AND DAILY EVAPOTRANSPIRATION VALUES EVEN IN REMOTE AREAS. THE FACTORS WHICH EFFECT ET AND EQUATIONS WITH EXAMPLE OF CALCULATIONS HAVE BEEN DESCRIBED. A MAP OF INDIA SHOWING ABOUT 40 LOCATIONS OF LYSIMETERS HAS ALSO BEEN PRESENTED. |
