| Abstract/Description: | LDPE LINED GUHLS ( SMALL WATER CHANNELS) WERE CONSTRUCTED AT OPERATIONAL RESEARCH PROJECT, FAKOT ( TEHRI- GARHWAL HILLS) . THE COST OF CONSTRUCTION OF A TYPICAL LDPE GUHL HAS BEEN FOUND TO BE RS 12/- PER RUNNING METER AS AGAINST RS 42/- PER RUNNING METER FOR A CEMENT MASONARY GUHL DESIGNED FOR THE SAME DISCHARGE. TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE LIFE PERIOD FOR BOTH, THE COST OF CONSTRUCTION FOR THE FORMER HAS BEEN WORKED OUT TO BE RS 0.60 P. PER RUNNING METER PER YEAR AS AGAINST RS 1.05 P. PER RUNNING METER PER YEAR FOR THE LATTER i.e 75% CHEAPER THAN THE LATTER ONE. |
