| Abstract/Description: | A STUDY WAS UNDERTAKEN UP TO EVALUATE THE OVERALL IMPACT OF ORP IN SHIWALIK FOOTHILLS AND EXAMINE THE CONTRIBUTION OF THE SELECTED SOCIO- ECONOMIC FACTORS IN DISCRIMINATING THE POPULATIONS OF ADOPTED AND NEARBY NON- ADOPTED VILLAGES THROUGH APPLICATION OF MULTIPLE DISCRIMINANT FUNCTION APPROACH. THE ANALYSIS INDICATED THAT INCOME OF THE ADOPTED FAMILIES FROM AGRICULTURE AND DAIRY HAS INCREASED IN ADDITION TO INCREASE IN THEIR PRODUCTIVE EXPENDITURE AND EMPLOYMENT PER MAN UNIT. THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN OVERALL ECONOMIC STATUS OF THE ADOPTED FAMILIES DIFFERENTIATING THEM FROM THOSE OF THE NON- ADOPTED VILLAGE WITH RESPECT TO THE SELECTED INDICES OF DEVELOPMENT. |
