| Abstract/Description: | THE PAPER NARRATES WITH THE SUPPORT OF DATA THE SUCCESS STORY OF THE FORD FOUNDATION AIDED ORP , PREPARED AND STARTED BY THE CSWCRTI , RESEARCH CENTRE , CHANDIGARH DURING 1975 IN VILLAGE SUKHIMAJRI LOCATED NEAR CHANDIGARH IN THE VICINITY OF SHIWALIK HILLS. THE COMPONENTS OF THE SUKHOMAJRI MODEL ARE BASED ON THE WATERSHED MANAGEMENT AND WATER HARVESTING ALL MANAGED BY THE LOCAL PEOPLE. THE OVERWHELMING SUCCESS OF THIS MODEL HAS MADE IT POPULARISED THE WORLD OVER. |
