| Abstract/Description: | THE PAPER IS A COMPILATION OF AVAILABLE INFORMATION ON SOME INDIGENOUS TECHNOLOGIES IN THE FIELD OF SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION (SWC) IN INDIA THAT HAVE STOOD THE TEST OF TIME AND HELPED THE CONSERVATION OF RESOURCES. THESE SYSTEMS / PRACTICES HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED BY THE FARMERS OVER TIME USING THEIR INGENUITY AND SKILLS. HOWEVER, THESE PRACTICES HAVE REMAINED CONFINED TO ISOLATED POCKETS, MOSTLY TO THEIR PLACES OF ORIGIN. THE AUTHORS SUGGEST THAT WITH A LITTLE IMPROVISATION , WHEREVER FEASIBLE , THEY COULD BE POPULARISED IN OTHER AREAS AS WELL. |
