| Abstract/Description: | There are many characters of economic importance in animal and plant breeding which are polygenic in inheritence but thier phenotypic expression show discontinuities . for example, the number of piglets in a littter may differ between sows, on as in resistance to disease , the character is expressed in "all or none" fashion , that is ,either alive or dead.although lacking a continous distributions ,such character are known to be multifactorial in thier inheritance the relationship between polygenes and expression of such character comes about through the establishment of threshholds, that is individuals whose genotypic values are threshhold appear in the other. |
