Abstract/Description: | Conditions are becoming favourable for cessation of Northeast Monsoon rains over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe and adjoining areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka around 19th January, 2021. • Current spell of Dense to Very Dense Fog across Indo-Gangetic plains likely to reduce during next 2 days with likely occurrence of Dense to Very Dense Fog in isolated to some pockets very likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, north Rajasthan, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura during the same period. Cold Day conditions very likely in isolated pockets over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal during next 24 hours. • Currently, easterly winds are prevailing at lower levels over plains of North India. This is likely to cause gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C over most parts of Northwest India during next 24 hours (till 19th January). Thereafter, reversal of winds to westerly/northwesterly very likely from night of 20th January. This is likely to cause gradual fall in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C during subsequent 2-3 days (20th-22nd January) over the same region. • No large change in minimum temperatures over most parts of Central India during next 2 days and gradual fall by by 3-5°C thereafter. • Minimum temperatures rise by 2-3°C very likely over most parts of East India till 21st January, 2021 and gradual fall by 3-5°C thereafter. |
