| Abstract/Description: | FarmwomenplayasignificantroleinIndianagricultureandtheirnumber,atpresent,isestimatedatabout97million.Theyareemployedmostlyindrudgery-proneactivitieswhichincludestransplanting,weeding,harvesting,threshing,graincleaningetc.Thetools/equipmentavailablehavebeenprimarilydevelopedformaleworkersandgivenforusetowomenworkerswhichresultedinlowersystemefficiencyandoccupationalhealthhazards.Theergonomicalcharacteristicsoffarmwomenaredifferentfromthemen.Therefore,itisnecessarytodeveloptechnologiessuitedtofarmwomenconsideringtheiranthropometricandstrengthdata.Also,thedevelopedtechnologiesneedtobedemonstrated,andusershavetobegiventrainingfortheirproperuse.ThecentresofAICRPonESAlocatedatICAR-CIAEandStateAgriculturalUniversitieshavetakenaleadinthisdirectionandevaluated/refined/developed32toolsandequipmentsuitableforfarmwomen. Thiscompilationincludesinformationofthese30toolsandequipmentusefulfortreatmentofseed,fertilizerbroadcasting,sowing,transplanting,weeding,interculture,harvesting,threshing,cleaning/grading,decortication,maizeshelling,cottonstalkpulling,dehuskingandfishprocessingetc.Thecompilationisaimedtocreatelargescaleawarenessamongthedifferentstakeholderssuchasagriculturalengineers,homescientists,extensionfunctionaries,researchplannersandadministratorsinformulationofprogrammesrelatedtofarmwomen. |
