Abstract/Description: | Theaverageannualrainfallof772mmintheAlursub-watershedasrecordedfromtheKhajuriStationdata. 76percent,16percentand8percentoftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandSummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability. Theevapotranspirationestimatedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisinsustainablecondition. Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis37mmforanaverageannualrainfallof793mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris37.8mm(70%of54mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(140mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis215(=140+37+38) Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis524mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas655mm(i.e125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby440mm,i.e.(655-215).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsisonly59%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisagoodopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason. ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinAlurSub-watershedasperLRIdatais152(56-Borewells&96-Openwells).Theground water level depicts shallow ground water(3-4m)duringtheyears2008-2017. |
