Abstract/Description: | Theaverageannualrainfallof786mmintheKempahallasub-watershedasrecordedfromtheYedramistationdatabyKSNDMC. 77%,14%and9%oftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability. Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisindeficit.Thecropping&irrigationchoicesarenotappropriateandneedtobealteredtoshiftthedeficitwaterbalance. Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis19mmforanaverageannualrainfallof584mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris38mm(70%of55mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(177mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis234(=177+38+19) Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis542mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas677mm(i.e125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby443mm,i.e.(677-234).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsis75%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisagoodopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason. ThegroundwaterlevelwasfoundfromthedataobtainedfromKSNDMCfortheneareststationYedrami.Thegroundwaterlevelsduringtheyears2008-2017wereslightlyvaryingexceptfortheyear2016.Deepestlevelwasfoundduring2016year |
