Abstract/Description: | Theaverageannualrainfallof772mmintheMatkisub-watershedasrecordedfromtheKhajuristationdatabyKSNDMC. 80%,9%and10%oftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability. Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisinsustainablelimit. Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis14mmforanaverageannualrainfallof648mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris38mm(70%of54mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(125mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis177(=125+38+14) Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis525mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas656mm(i.e125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby479mm,i.e.(656-177).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsis55%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisagoodopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason. ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinMatkiSub-watershedasperLRIdatais97(39-Borewellsand28-Openwells).ThegroundwaterlevelwasfoundfromthedataobtainedfromKSNDMCfortheneareststationSalegaon.Deepestlevelswerefoundin2017. |
