| Abstract/Description: | Theaverageannualrainfallof862mmintheDuganursub-watershedasrecordedfromtheKodlastationdatabyKSNDMC. 76%,13%and11%oftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability. Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisindeficit.Thecropping&irrigationchoicesarenotappropriateandneedtobealteredtoshiftthedeficitwaterbalance. Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis50mmforanaverageannualrainfallof791mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris49.7mm(70%of71mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(144mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis244(=144+50+50) Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis521mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas651mm(i.e125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby407mm,i.e.(651-244).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsisonly52%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisagoodopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason. ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinDuganurSub-watershedasperLRIdatais13(13-Borewells).ThegroundwaterlevelwasfoundfromthedataobtainedfromKSNDMCfortheneareststationGunjnoor.Deepestlevelswerefoundin2010. |
