Abstract/Description: | Theaverageannualrainfallof631mmintheHaleKumtasub-watershedasrecordedfromtheHitnalstationdatabyKSNDMC. 71percent,16percentand14percentoftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability. Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisindeficit.Thecropping&irrigationchoicesarenotappropriateandneedtobealteredtoshiftthedeficitwaterbalance. Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis110mmforanaverageannualrainfallof750mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris31mm(70%of44mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(53mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis194(=53+110+31) Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis608mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas760mm(i.e125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby566mm,i.e.(760-194).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsis76%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisagoodopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason. ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinHaleKumtaSub-watershedasperLRIdatais5(3-Borewells2-Openwells).ThegroundwaterlevelwasfoundfromthedataobtainedfromKSNDMCfortheneareststationChikkabenakanal. |
