Abstract/Description: | Theaverageannualrainfallof887mmintheYadgirsub-watershedasrecordedfromtheYadgirstationdata. 78%,14%and9%oftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability. Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisinsustainablecondition. Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis53mmforanaverageannualrainfallof878mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris49.7mm(70%of71mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(198mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis301(=198+53+50) Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis524mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas655mm(i.e.125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby354mm,i.e.(655-301).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsisonly45%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisagoodopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason. ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinYadgirSub-watershedasperLRIdatais60wells(47Borewells&13openwell).ThegroundwaterleveldataobtainedfromDept.ofMines&GeologyfortheneareststationYadgir.Thegroundwaterlevelduringtheyears2011-2017wereslightlyvarying,whereasduringtheyear2014wasfoundconstant. |
