| Abstract/Description: | Theaverageannualrainfallof887mmintheHaligerisub-watershedasrecordedfromtheYadgirstationdatabyKSNDMC. 77percent,14percentand8percentoftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability. Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisindeficit.Thecropping&irrigationchoicesarenotappropriateandneedtobealteredtoshiftthedeficitwaterbalance. Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis114mmforanannualrainfallof878mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris49.7mm(70%of71mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(153mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis317mm(=114+153+49.7). Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis511mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas639mm(i.e125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsismarginallyhigherby322mm,i.e.(639-317).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsis45%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisgoodopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason. ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinHaligeriSub-watershedasperLRIdatais34(33-Borewells&1-Openwells).GroundwaterlevelswasfoundfromthedataobtainedfromKSNDMCfortheneareststationofYadgir.Deepestlevelswerefoundin2017. |
