| Abstract/Description: | Theaverageannualrainfallof887mmintheKodlursub-watershedasrecordedfromtheSaidapurstationdata. 77%,15%and8%oftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability. Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisindeficit.Thecropping&irrigationchoicesarenotappropriateandneedtobealteredtoshiftthedeficitwaterbalance. Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis146mmforanaverageannualrainfallof776mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris49.7mm(70%of71mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(240mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis436(=240+146+50) Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis512mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas640mm(i.e125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby204mm,i.e.(640-436).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsisonly58%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisagoodopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason. ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinKodlurSub-watershedasperLRIdatais11wells(9Borewells&2openwells).ThegroundwaterleveldataobtainedfromDept.ofMines&GeologyfortheneareststationSaidapur.Thegroundwaterlevelduringtheyears2008-2017wereslightlyvarying,whereasduringtheyear2014wasfoundconstant. |
