| Abstract/Description: | Theaverageannualrainfallof763mmintheHangalasub-watershedasrecordedfromtheHangalastationdatabyKSNDMC. 39%,26%and34%oftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability. Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisindeficit.Thecropping&irrigationchoicesareinappropriateandneededtobealtered. Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis24mmforanaverageannualrainfallof730mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris27mm(70%of38mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(140mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis191(=140+27+24) Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis595mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas744mm(i.e125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby553mm,i.e.(744-191).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsismorethanrainfall. ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinHangalaSub-watershedasperLRIdataare107(Borewells).ThegroundwaterlevelwasfoundfromthedataobtainedfromKSNDMCfortheneareststationSiddayyanapura.Deepestlevelwasfoundin2014year. |
