| Abstract/Description: | The paper discuss about the conservation status of the whale shark (Rhiniodon typus), the largest living fish species. It detailed about the records of whale sharks from Indian coastal waters, its occurrence in the coastal waters of India, Pakistan & Sri Lanka, its season of occurrence and taxonomy. It has also been commented and discussed about the mode of development, size and feeding in whale shark, its centre of origin and dispersal, natural enemies and longevity, schooling behavior, association with tuna and other animal associates, based on personal observations and other availble data. |
