Abstract/Description: | The familiar phrase “Say it with flowers” is meaningful because flowers do say special things for which it is often difficult or impossible, to find the right words. To make our homes beautiful, we use a number of art objects in different rooms. From all the arts in the home, the art of flower arrangement gives us maximum pleasure and enjoyment. Even a thoughtfully planned and carefully decorated room looks dull without flowers. Any addition of well-placed and well-arranged flowers will add life and beauly to a room. The art of flower arrangement is quite old and has existed ever since sixth century. It is defined as “the art of organizing flowers, other plant material and receptacles into composition having harmony of form, texture and colour.” The main objective of flower arrangement is to make the place, where it is going to be placed, cheerful, lively and beautiful. We use this: art not only in homes but also in our temples and at auspicious occasions. In fact, in present times, no function be it academic. Religious or social is complete without being decorated with flower arrangements. This art needs a lot of creative ability that anyone can develop by experience. Like all other arts, here also your eye is the best judge even though we have some principles for making arrangements. Flower arrangements are used at various places like tables, walls, windowsills according to the situation and occasion. The colour of the arrangement is chosen in harmony with the colours in the rooms. Flowers show off better against plain backgrounds and curtains than against patterned ones. Bold coloured and large flowers are helpful to brighten the dark comers. In any room a large flower arrangement can also be used as a : center of attraction. The art of flower arranging is not a difficult one to learn. Anyone who loves flowers : and growing things and is prepared to take a little time and trouble over them can acquire the necessary skills and techniques. This small booklet consists of useful lips regarding flower arrangements, which may be helpful for the person interested to learn this art of flower arrangement. These are explained under different headings. |
