Abstract/Description: | Globally, P. vannamei isthe vital species in the aquaculture production. Histomorphometry of the hepatopancreas and midgut trunk of P. vannamei in brackishwater culture ponds during different days (0, 30, 60 and 90 DOC) was studied. It was found that hepatopancreas consist of five types of cells M, E, F, E and B cells which are morphologically dissimilar and their predominance in the distal, middle and proximal region of hepatopancreas was different during (0, 30, 60 and 90 DOC) in P.vannamei culture ponds. The maturation of cells in the hepatopancreatic tubules at various DOC in P. vannamei showed adistinct age-related gradient. In our study, the midgut trunk (intestine) presented morphological features related to absorption depending on the DOC of development of P. vannamei. This study throws light in understanding the histomorphology and micrometry of hepatopancreas and midgut trunk of P. vannamei during different DOC is new and will further insight into nutrition, health, disease diagnosis and assessment of environment stressors in this species. |
