| Abstract/Description: | India has all the potential to emerge as a world leader of cotton. India has the largest cotton area in the world with 111 lakh hectares in 2010, accounting for more than one-third of the global cotton area. It has the best dedicated scientific talent of the world for cotton research. With carefully planned policy on cotton research we can ensure that the emerging challenges facing cotton farming are addressed from time to time, while harnessing the full potential of our natural resources, manpower and technologies so that cotton farming becomes a sign of prosperity and India emerges as a global leader of cotton. |
