| Abstract/Description: | Rice is the principal food crop of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India. At present the requirement of rice for consumption is almost three times more than the production in the islands. To narrow the gap between actual production and requirement, horizontal expansion of rice area is difficult due to forest preservation for addressing ecological requirements. Alternatively, vertical growth in terms of rice productivity enhancement is quite attractive and achievable option. |
