dc.description.abstract | Bottle gourd genotypes were evaluated during off-season (November sowing) at ICAR-Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi (U.P.) in completely randomized block design with three replications. Analysis of variance revealed that all the 12 characters under study were found highly significant among forty genotypes. The range of variation was high for number of seeds followed by fruit yield (q/ha). high estimate of phenotypic variability alone will not be enough to determine exact nature and magnitude variability. At the phenotypic level highest positive direct effect on edible green fruit yield was exerted by number of fruits followed by weight of edible green fruit and vine length. Number of fruits also showed positive and highly significant correlation with yield. However, node number to first fruit set was found to have negative direct effect on yield. This indicated that these characters could influence to the vine length. Vine length showed positive but non-significant association with yield. | en_US |
