Five trace elements from the leves of 9 mangroves (Rhizophora mucronata Lamk; Bruguiera gymnorrhiza Lamk; Ceriops tagal Perr, C.B. Rob; Avicennia officinalis L; Lumnitzera racemosa Willd; Aegiceras corniculatum (L) Blanco; Acanthus ilicifolius L; Aeluropus lagopoides L; and Clerodendron inerme L.) are estimated. Manganese is comparatively more while the quantities of zinc and molybdenum, in many cases, are very near. Cobalt is in lowest amount. It is suggested that the range of variation in the levels of trace elements is more because of the specificity of the plant for a particular element rather than the response of plant to edaphic factors. |
