A toxic compound, heIminthosporoside, produced by Helminthosporium saccizari, was used to screen sugarcane varieties against brown eye leaf spot disease. Five microlitre solution (containing 10 ILg/ILI) of heIminthosporoside produce characteristic symptoms. Runner appearance and its length were considered as criteria for measuring resistance. Offifteen leaf strips. |
