Subject Groundnut

Description In a greenhouse experiment, groundnuts cv. TMV 2, AH 6179 and Comet were subjected to day/night soil temperature regimes of (a) 20/14°C, (b) 26/20°, (c) 32/26° or (d) 38/32°. Seed oil concentration was significantly greater and the starch concentration significantly lower in (b) than (a). The protein concentration was higher in (c) and (d). There was no difference between (c) and (d) for oil, starch, and protein concentration. The total soluble sugar concentration was higher in (a) and (d). The oleic/linoleic acid ratio increased from (a) to (c)
